Overview
CYTAVIS BioPharma is a biopharmaceutical company developing derivatives of natural compounds for the treatment of cancer.
The company was founded in 2005 by BioAgency (Hamburg) and is developing its compounds in academic and corporate collaborations. The company takes its products through preclinical and clinical development up to proof-of-concept in humans, followed by partnering.
CYTAVIS’ lead compound is Aviscumine (CY-503), a therapeutic protein derived from mistletoe that induces the programmed cell death (apoptosis) of tumor cells and activates immune functions against cancer cells. At present, Aviscumine is in Phase II clinical trials in melanoma patients. CYTAVIS is planning further Phase II trials, e.g. in colon cancer. Partnering opportunities are evaluated at any stage of development.
